How about we prohibit all but the most basic books first, and then slowly open up more as the group gains experience in the system, particularly the newbies?
I'm all for opening the game up, but it has to be with eyes open, and the DM should approve it. I also think that the RP elements of a character, and campaign world, are more important than anything else though, so all new material also has to fit in with that.Crothian said:But a good DM can use many sources and keep the balance. The only way to be able to do that is learn, and learning usually means making mistakes along the way. So, I would suggest slowly introducing nerw material to the game and not blindling disallow all sorts of books on the premise they might cause problems.

Crothian said:A min maxer creates their character to take advatage of the rules, a munchkin makes their character and says to hell with the rules. Min maxers are out for personal power but not like the munchkin who doesn't mind sacrificing the fun and ability of his fellow players.
