Oppression vs. Ambition

Whiron removes his hat again and scratches his head. He has much upon which to think. “Yes, so apparently I can clean the river water so that we can drink it, but you pose an interesting question with heavy implications. We could likely wander the marsh indefinitely, but what is the point of that? If we stay gone for a Tenday, I do not think that it will draw much attention. If we stay gone for onger on a regular basis, I think that word will get out from the clerk, even if it is unintentional, and we will likely acquire a tracker. Even if we can rid ourselves of a spy, it will probably work against us. Okay, I have talked around it enough, I guess we should keep our trips to a Tenday, at least until we can think of something better.”

Whiron cocks his head to the side and stares out at the horizon, as well. Just as he knows Jalakaag to be, he is really staring at nothing. He is looking inside his own head. “You are absolutely right. We are nothing better than bricks a levee, going through the motions of life but slaves to a never ending pattern. Sure we are helping our parents and others of this pathetic community, but I see no reason to be recognized by the Pavilion, at all. Like it matters who we elect to be our oppressor. Forget the Tenday. We should go until we have some reason to return.”

Whiron has nothing to consider. He quickly nods his head. “I think we can cover more ground if we no longer set snares. I think we can catch enough fish for our own food.”

Since they have already been seen, Whiron says, “Not really what I was hoping to find, but here we go.” Like his friend, he takes a shell in his hand; but instead of causing it to generate a sound, his should emit a toxic aroma when it strikes.
