Orc Miniatures?

apocalypstick

First Post
I was hoping that someone on this board could point me in the direction of a company that produces nice, high-quality sculpts of orc miniatures.

A company that is not Reaper (I love their stuff, but I hate their orcs) or GW (I don't really like anything of theirs).

So if anyone has a favorite miniature studio, this would be the place to post the URL to their website. I'd be, like, all appreciative and stuff.

Aren't the hack master minis a bit big for usual scale?

Nah, they are within the range of "acceptable" size, although they are on the high end. I've got some Reaper minis that are as big or slightly bigger (especially the Reaper Warlords figs). The only one that is noticably larger is the dwarven battlemage, who does stand a head taller than all the rest of the dwarves I've got. But he is such a cool sculpt, it doesn't matter!

so are they like 30mm to standard 28? Kinda like space marines? that might be cool... i quite liked some of the minis.

I was sure I had heard that they were on an altogether different scale...

Yeah, I had heard that they were bigger as well, but ordered a few anyway. Maybe its just the on's I've got, but I really don't see that much of a difference. I'd say they are probably in the 30mm range, maybe a few of them are 32mm. Unless you're a fanatic about size, I doubt you'll find them too big. (but I still use old 25mm Ral Partha & Grenader from the early 80s along with Reaper and GW, so size doesn't make that much of a difference to me).

celtos

Well I would have suggested Reaper (and maybe GW) but those are out. Although if you haven't taken a look at Reapers Warlord line you might check them out.
Narg Bloodtusk, Orc Captain and his boys Orcish Warriors .

But for something very different check out Celtos. The i-kore site seems to be having some problems, at least the online store seems to be offline and I couldn't find any pictures there.
But I did find some pics of their new orcs (Painted no less!) here
miniForums .
Scroll down a little, I think they are kinda cool and they are rahter different than any other orcs I have seen.

You could also check out some of the Confrontation Orcs .
They have seem pretty beefy and bestial looking orcs.

Hope you find something you like!
