Now Endur has given me a very nasty idea for my game.
He's good for that. ;)

I'm sure my views on this have been covered many a times but I'll "vote" for the bugbear. Often overlooked and under appreciated the bugbear cam be can almost out power any other humanoid, their as dexterous as elves and the same constitution bonus as dwarves.

They also have the same average level of intelligence as humans, elves, dwarves and other "normal" races and that something not usually seen with a race that powerful physical.

If they had a more “winning” disposition to others, and more loyalty to their own race they would have an honest shot cleaving out a big notch of land. Lucky for everyone else their not.

Draconics Unite!

Or at least partially...

I was thinking of having a scenario in which there was a horrible war between two chromatic dragons. Rather than duking it out themselves, they ruled reptilian empires: red dragon with his troglodytic hordes against a black dragon with his loyal kobold and lizardfolk armies, or something like that.

That or have each dragon be the unquestioned sovereigns of nations of all three reptilian folk and just tint their scales in the colour of their masters. Black scales versus the red scales, or something like that...

I've never gotten into the idea of "evil races" to begin with, so I don't use any of them. I've used both orcs and goblins as "opponent cultures" and I think goblins are more fun for it, but in my campaigns they are simply the losers in an age old war of expansion... they have been pushed out into the deserts, mountains and caves of the world, and they raid and steal because there is no viable way of making an "honest" living in their circumstances.

A truely evil race... hrm, it would have to be insectiod, reptilian or symbiotic for me to take it seriously... guess thats why I'm so psched to play with Stargate. ;)

Nah! Think of a bipedal, tool-using, vertebrate with a well-developed civilization, incredible breeding capacity, smart enough to exist in almost all environments but dumb enough to lose all rationality at key moments, capable of the noblest acts and the most despicable deeds in one. Pretty scary, IMO. Now go look outside your window :D

I was wondering how long it would take before someone went on a "humans are evil" kick. I thought the question was orcs vs. goblinoinds...

I think that the goblinoids are more evil....something about their sneaky, backstabbing ways creeps me out....

Kobolds: The recent thread on this forum regarding how to make kobolds into dangerous enemies has given me a desire to use them on my PCs. :D

can you post a link to that thread?
thanks
