Oriental campaign setting question

If orc is the typical western medieval fantasy D&D "fodder" monster, what is the eastern counterpart?

If you had to build a "Tolkiennesque" oriental campaign setting what would be it's typical "orc"?

Bakemono (goblins) or Oni (ogre mage).

Bakemono, Nezumi, and Tasloi all make for good fodder monsters in Oriental Adventures. In my campaign (http://www.geocities.com/xagunder/Namidano_Campaign.pdf) I have used hobgoblins, bakemono, and human samurai with the corrupted template (from BoVD) as the major fodder monsters for my begining, low-, and mid-level PCs, respectively.
