Hi,

So, since we're able to mix and match races from sources and the playtest, and by now it's actually possible to compare... Are the new races options overpowered or not? Let's poll. It is assumed that the ASIs will be taken from background, but as the option to keep those from race exist, feel free to explain your choice if it relies on the original ASIs. Also, feel free to explain your choice. Please vote only once per race. Also, if you want to propose other sources (like a dragonmarked human), feel free to comment. Also, details which subrace you'd choose if you voted for an original something. Like an astral elf.

I don’t understand the options. What is a “compatible elf” as opposed to an “original elf” for example?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I like how Half-Elves and Half-Orcs work in this as a frequent homebrewer. Having full race stats for half-races is a slippery slope that always results in "why isn't this race combination playable?"

I'd be fine with a system where you could choose one or two features from both parent races, but it might not work in 5e's system.
