Maybe they had got oni/ogre mage ancestors
It was always amusing to me that Ogrillions were more human-looking than orcs or ogres despite having a gorillion nameThat’s Ogrillions, IIRC
And here I thought orogs were half-orcs-half-ogres. Or, at least, descended from mixed orc/ogre ancestry, if not necessarily half-and-half
You’re both right!That’s Ogrillions, IIRC
Given the above, I think you mean Olog-hai?Nah, it's TSR thumbing their nose at Uruk-Hai being copyright protected.
Why not both?Given the above, I think you mean Olog-hai?
I don't recall Uruk-hai being described as having been created from troll-stock?Why not both?
Shrug see no reason why we should limit TSR's serial number filing based on lore they were totally not copying for legal purposes.I don't recall Uruk-hai being described as having been created from troll-stock?
Well, that doesn't feel like something WotC will be comfortable with in 2025.Orogs result from breeding male orcs with female ogres, whereas ogrillons are the offspring of male ogres and female orcs.
Yeah, "Deep Orc" is a pretty easy change, especially since PHB orcs now have super-darkvision and the implication that there's a chunk of orc society that rarely sees the sun.The lore's all fucky with them but it's easy enough to make the Orog the Orc's version of the drow/sviernefblin/duergar
yeah the idea of Orogs being species of "Underdark Orc" probably works better, they're just orcs but adapted to a different environment. They could keep the ogre lineage background though - after all if tieflings and aasimars can why not ogres?Well, that doesn't feel like something WotC will be comfortable with in 2025.
I would guess they get renamed to something non-biodeterministic, like Orc Siegemaster or Beastcunning Ogre or something. Just unusual members of each society, but not something that -- by default -- could be the result of eugenics.
