OSR OSR Layout and Design Thread

I'm personally not invested into using it myself, but the nice thig about LaTeX is that once you get the settings right, you can automate the process with more and more newer texts.
I've heard that about it. Affinity has some similar features but I'll admit that I don't use them efficiently (or at all). I always mean too, but then I get busy and I've done too much the hard way to back out and do it correctly.

Justified text can look great (see the D&D 3rd edition books as an example), but it can be a pain to work with and isn't suitable in every case. I tend to write in smaller blocks of text that isn't conducive to it, and don't like having to spend time working the text when the spacing gets out of whack on a line.

Here's an example of design thinking from a Discord I post on. This isn't about better or worse, but came out of a comment that the phrase gold edition should be gold

And some ideas I was playing around with

Just to show that there are all kinds of ways to skin a cat in layout.

I recently read the Morhership Players Guide and it was awesome to via pdf. Easy on the eyes, great integration of graphics with text. Just a real joy to work through. Not sure it qualifies as pure OSR but is definitely inspired.

They do great layout work, for sure. Plus awesome writing, of course.

I think the “gold lettering” and font change are an improvement. 🙂

I like “black letter” fonts, but not those two. I read the titles as The Cliffbauger and [T]he Ctiffbanger. (Disclosure: screen size has an influence here.)

(Is that is a longship?)
