I thought the Spanish were low-down nasty vs the (very honorable) Irish yesterday, but those Mexicans are vicious b*stards! *stomp* *hack* *shove* *grab* *stomp* - they deserved to have more than one man sent off.

Turkey and Portugal have also shown themselves likely to get nasty when things start going against them. The Portuguese have a history - three players were banned for 6-9 months after the last European championships, when their response to a late penalty was a lengthy bout of referee buffetting.

Now Pinto has been reported for allegedly striking the referee after he was sent off against Korea, Fernando Couto is under investigation for grabbing the referee's head, and the South Korean captain has alleged that the Portuguese tried to persuade them to agree to play out a draw when they heard how the USA-Poland match was going.... Book throwing time?

Still 0-0 in the Brazil-Belgium game.... Who will be England's QF vict.. er, sorry opponents? Very surprised at how meekly Denmark surrendered on Saturday, but I'm not complaining :D

I think the USA has a good chance against Germany. The Germans don't have a very good side, though they are well organised.

Anyway, I'll be rooting for you.

I get to keep wearing my new jersey with glowing pride, WOO-HOO :D!!! I couldn't be more proud or pleased with the American team's performance today -- keep it up boys!

As for Mexico and Portugal, well their cheap shots, dirty play, violent fouls, and all-around poor sportsmanship won't be missed from the remainder of this fantastic World Cup. If the rumors about Portugal's attempt to talk South Korea into a draw are true, their side should be banned from the next World Cup IMO.
