Favourites: Argentina and Italy.
Who'll do better than expected? Cameroon, Uruguay, South Africa.
An worse than expected? France, Spain (once again).

I also think Germany can do a great cup. They have a great number of injured players, but if Ballack and Kahn play there's a chance.

I'll be rooting for:
The good ol' USA (I hope not in vain).
The African nations because they generally play a wide open brand of ball (like Argentina and Brazil), and are fun to watch as obvious underdogs given their lack of funding.
Sweden -- there's a story here. When the Cup was held in the United States in '94, Detroit was one of the early round sites and Sweden was assigned to its group. I happened to be at Tiger Stadium watching a baseball game from the bleachers on an off day, when a dozen or so Swedish soccer fans strolled into the stands. They were wearing jerseys, carrying flag, and some were painted blue and yellow from head to toe. Being a fellow who appreciates this type of loyalty and enthusiasm, I stood up and yelled, "Go Sweden!" To which one of the Swedish fans replied matter of factly, "Ya, we are going to win the Cup." My buddies and I who were at that game, have rooted for Sweden ever since.

As a side note, I will miss the orange Dutch squad this year.

I'll pull for Cameroon. But anyone is preferable tor those snotty European drama queens whose egos put the NBA to shame, and whose primary skill is diving for penalties at the drop of a hat and rolling around so pathetically on the ground that you'd think they were victims of the British Columbia health care system. :-)

Now, come on. I'm sure that Roy Keane is a very nice man, really.

I'm just amazed that Roy Keane has the time to play world-class soccer, get into fights with his coach and manager, AND still manage to draw "Family Circus".

So ... what did I tell you guys ...

Routing for France is pointless with DENMARK in the group.

DENMARK 2 - 1 URAGUAY

Bah ... that's nothing ... now let's see when they kick France's ass, sha'll we.
