[OT] Accomodation in New York

Done. We'll be on strike on Monday. We're pretty lame generally, but when aroused we can be as soixante-huitard-y as the next person. singing "Allons enfants de la patree-ee-uh..."

 My poor ears. So, how did it go?

Defending DnD: Get Hollier to play in your group, and you have my respect. Work the Bataille angle--tell him it's about labyrinths and minotaurs.

Yeah, George, right. And why not including Doubrovsky and Genette in my group, while we're at it? Try with the wife first. If you succeed, I may give it a go with the husband!

I still get to play a bit during conventions. I've been offered a trip to Origins, where I will help at a booth during the day and play in the evening.

It was odd. The American version of a demonstration is very ritualized. No tear gas. Everyone gets to hold a placard and march in an orderly row in such a way that the campus entrance is *not* blocked. Still, there was an article in the Times (page B 8479).

That you can suggest this in earnest tells me you've never met her. She's... unique.

I'm yet hoping to go to my first GenCon evar. The plan is to help out at the Dying Earth RPG booth (I love that game). But I just learned I'll be moving permanently to L.A. in August... I did get a fellowship after all, only I'll have to move there to get it. Never wish for something--it may be granted to you. Blech.

:D Indeed, very different from France. One year, my second, they blocked the whole campus for two months. Chairs and tables had been used to form barricades, etc.

That's a compliment in my book. :p

I've never played to the Dying Earth RPG. Is it French, originally? I think I was still there when it was first published.

No Gen Con for me this year, most probably.

As for seeing my wishes granted... Hm, it happened, though rarely, and too often then, there was a hidden needle.

Hey there Morrus, you'll definitely have some fun if you drop in on PC. Great house, nice people, they never mock me if my back's not turned, so I'm happy. :D

I hope to see you if you come up around Boston- I owe you a beer/glass of milk/crust of bread/overly long and uncomfortable hug.

I live near DC, not NYC, so I can't give you specifics on NYC. Just thought I would mention something -- you mentioned renting a car? I hope you realize one of you has to have a US driver's liscense (or international one) ...

Are you sure that this is true? I've rented cars in Italy, Ireland, Canada, and the U.K. and my MA/WA state licenses have always done me fine.

Also, we must have some slow drivers on these boards. The trip from Boston to N.Y.C. only takes me (and everyone else that I know) about 4 hours without traffic, 5 - 5 1/2 with.

Enjoy your trip, Morrus!
