[OT] Anime Music Videos

I've got a ton of these, though most are bad video captures made even worse by putting them in RealPlayer format.

However, some of my favorites are Blue Mercury (mentioned above), DMX "Up In Here" / Dragonball Z, and Gravity Kills "Enough" / Akira. Oh, and Metallica "Hero of the Day" / Dragonball is another good one. (I don't know of any specific titles for those three, just the music and anime.)

No to be elitist or a DBZ-basher (indeed, whenever they're not fighting, I actually like the show), but I'll let you in on a secret. There are only 4 types of AMVs you can make based on DBZ, and they all get boring fast.

One is the dramatic fight, set to rock or metal.

Another is comedy fight, set to They Might Be Giants or Weird Al.

The third is the same as version one, only done poorly.

The fourth is the most common, and it is the same as version three, only worse.

You never see a moving or stirring AMV based on DBZ; all you ever see is fights, and since the animation is kinda dull, and since people always just recycle the same footage of Majin Vegeta vs. Goku, I really don't like DBZ AMVs anymore. Show me an original one, and I'll watch it, but otherwise, I'll stick with ones that are fun and unique.

And yes, I admit, there is a sick pleasure in watching Pikachu curse, but I suppose I'm just not the type of person who can watch it more than once a month without getting bored. But that one time each month. . . . Those are a good 4 minutes.

Oh, hey, see if you can find "Happy Boys and Girls." It's a wonderful, wholly cheerful piece that can always pick me up out of a slump when I'm feeling too tired to do anything. It's just too cute to stay sad at.

My new favorite AMV is The Aquabats "Danger Woman" to Mahoromantic.
I also love the Foo Fighters "Monkeywrench" to Kare Kano
And I love every FLCL AMV I have ever seen.
