(OT) Anyone play Duel of Ages?

I recently purchased and played this board game (http://www.duelofages.com/index.php) with a group of my friends and I have to say it's VERY fun. We struggled a bit through some of the rules during our first session, as there is a bit of a learning curve, but otherwise we had a great time. I would say this game would be lots of fun for anyone that likes to play DnD (and no, this isn't a subtle advertisement) but wants to try something a bit different. The game has multiple strategies and never gets old - and there are multiple sets that offer advanced play. I'm only playing with the first set now, but I think the second set is supposed to be really cool too.

I'm hoping someone else has tried this game and we can compare experiences!

Actually, I found it to be well...... kind of silly.

The backstory is simply rediculous (but I can overlook that)

The play seems to be some type of Squad Leader light - that being said, it I am going to play a tactical combat game - I will play squad leader. Also - I found the quality of the components to be very substandard - the playing boards that we used curled up on the edges and the little cardboard pieces wer difficult to move.

What is most amazing about this product though is that they are marketing it as if it was a familay game. Can you imagine Grandma, little Billy and the rest of the clan playing this???? What I could see (as you indicated) is a bunch of friends playing it for a change of pace.
