First Post
so im planning a trip to the eastern U.S. i need some good rv parks that allow tents close to a few major centers. i plan to stop at the following cities or their immediate areas:

new york
washington dc
pittsburgh, near cooperstown or canton specifically
chicago

also i will be hitting the following canadian cities
toronto
ottowa
montreal.

or, if you are willing to let 4 canadian 25 year old men you do not know stay at your house (backyard is cool, we are easy going and have tents) and you live in one of these cities that would work for us too. lol :)

back to reality, any help you can give would be great, links to sites, 1-800 numbers even park names, i can find out the rest myself if nessisary

Check out KOA Kampgrounds . They've got like 5 or 6 hundred locations all over North America, and are pretty decent in general. No frills, but they generally have showers and bathrooms, laundry facilities, a pool, a general store/gift shop type deal, and some organized activites. We used them extensively when I was growing up, and I recommend them heartily.

(edit)
A quick search of their site reveals that they do have locations in every city on you list except ottawa, but there is one in a town called Renfrew, which is an hour's drive from Ottawa itself.

The other great thing about KOA is the price, about $25 US for a no frills, no hookups lot, $35 US for a rv lot with hookups, and around $50 for a small cabin. Per night of course, and prices vary place to place, but very reasonable alternative to hotels IMO.

Good luck with the trip, I'd love to get out on the road one of these days myself.

many wal-marts actually encourage just this kind of thing in their parking lots...even if you don't stay in a wm lot, stopping there and chatting wiht the old hands at this game may be worth your while...

thanks for the KOA tip, i've found all my stops except for winnepeg, the one i forgot to mention in my earlier post. anyone from winnepeg have any recomendations?
