[OT] BattleTech - Castle Brians

You folks wanna go here:

http://www.classicbattletech.com/

Battletech is very alive and kicking (new sourcebooks comming out, etc.). Take a look at the site, there's a lot of info on there, and a couple of complete source books as well (the old house books) a lot of the new unit markings, a couple of product previews, and lots of other goodness. There's also a big online community at the boards they host, ask away on there, you'll get all the answers you ever wanted ;-)

Actually, the problem with the "unseen" mechs was with Harmony Gold, the American company that made Robotech. FASA liscesced the designes before H.G., but HG wanted exclusive rights to use them, so they sued FASA to get the rights. FASA couldnt afford the legal battles, so gave up. Harmony Gold existed throught the 90's pretty much just to keep FASA from using these mecha designs.

I hate to ask. If it is called "Classic" Battletech then what is standard Battletech.

You REALLY don't want to know...

Mechwarrior: Dark Age (the new 'standard' battletech) will be produced by Wizkids (the current owners of BT) and will be similar to MageKnight (a collectabile miniature game, with crappy looking minis). FanPro will handle CBT, BT as we know and love it...

So was the Battletech license split in half and sold to two different companies?
