[OT] Brush with greatness

I got to go on the last Bruise Cruise that WCW had and met quite a few wrestlers. Got to eat dinner with Chris Jericho (who is hilarious IRL). Hung out with Hacksaw Jim Dugan too.

*slobber* the Nitro Girls were there and I got pics and autys from all of them.

I was seated in the lounge while people were waiting to get some autographs and it was very crowded. I felt someone touching/brushing up against the top and back of my head. I turned around to see what was going on and was in the terribly embarassing (but quite thrilling) position of having my face in Kimberly's (Diamond Dallas Paige's wife & lead Nitro Girl) cleavage. I, of course, apologized and she laughed it off and excused herself.

My wife (now ex) told me that I was full of crap when I said, "I'll never wash my head or face again." She was right, but I sure didn't want to. :)

Having been an event coordinator at one time for a large chain of music stores, I got to meet various music celebs. I think the only ones I really cared about meeting at the time (several years ago) were Billy Corgan & James Iha, Eddie Vedder, Adam Duritz and all of Counting Crows, they guys from Bush, and Rob from Matchbox 20. I also accidently ran into Ted Danson once which was pretty cool for me since I loved Cheers!

Links to your work online?

:( Unfortunately the paper I left a couple of years ago does not archive online and when I worked for Reuters it was over a decade ago. I have never messed with putting my stuff online but someday I might.

I am getting back into it via freelancing this year starting with coverage of the Brickyard 400 on Aug 3. If I get anything good I will put it up.

I got to "service" Terry Runnels in her bedroom... Okay I was doing some work on her laptop, but hey it sounds good!

I brushed into the ENWORLD all-stars last year at Gen Con as they were hijacking PCat to run their CoC table (otherwise he would have been OUR JUDGE!!!).

But they didn't really have time to talk to the lurkers, they were all too cozy in eachothers company to be bothered with outsiders. Oh yeah, and witty CoC'isms, there were lots of those going around.

Both. Tho it is understandable to feel a bit awed when you meet someone whom EVERYONE has heard of. I bumped into Ozzy in the breakfast area of an Ohio Hilton when I was 11, 12....something, whoopdeedoo.

Everyone, eh? ;)
Not me. Who is Screech and why was this a momentous occasion...

Hmm... let's see.

Frank Zappa in Bush Gardens, FL.

Anthony Perkins in the New Orleans Airport.

Bob Ross (the PBS painter with the fro) in Michaels in Baton Rouge, we talked for a long time (I used to do oils).

Carrot Top, unfortunately. He was doing a comedy show in my college.

The comedian with the "peanut" puppet.

Johny Cockrin (sp?) was in my office for over an hour as I corrected a picture of his for a flyer. I never once asked him about OJ :).

Shaquil O'Neal (sp?), we used to visit the same Pharmacy in Baton Rouge (his mom lived nearby).

Sen. John Glenn was in my office for a while, while I worked on a logo for him. He smelled oddly (not bad, just weird).

I've met both Sean O'Keefe (current head of NASA) and Dan Golden (ex-head of NASA).

There's a few more I think.... but I can't remember them at the moment.

I literally ran into the wrestler the Undertaker and his wife while at Metro Airport a couple years back. We turned a corner at the same time and I got knocked on my back, I look up to this giant of a man standing over me (I'm 5' 7", he's like 6" 10" or 6" 11" or so), they were really nice and really friendly. We talked for a few minutes before they had to go, and they are really cool people.

The only other celebrity I ever met was Chevy Chase, and I'll spare the details, but he was basically a big ******* to everyone around him.
