I grew up on Martha's Vineyard, so I've had close encounters with numerous celebrities. This has helped me realize that they're just people. Here goes:
I've met Carly Simon a few times; her son sold me some comics.
Walter Cronkite almost hit me in his car; he's notorious as a crazy driver, and always takes the turn at ariport road at about 60 miles per hour.
I've been on a ferry with Dennis hopper
I met Dan Quayle on a ski trip to New Hampshire
I've met Bill Clinton, and made sandwiches for the secret service. (I wrote secret messages in mustard and mayo under the top buns)
Livingston Taylor picked me up hitchhiking.
I scaled and gutted a fish that Jim Belushi caught.
Went to school with Rosa Parks' great granson.
I met Jim Brewer and Vanessa Williams on the same night. Vanessa Was nice, Jim was kind of a jerk.
That summer I also met a lot of A-list comedians who's names escape me, including the guy who used to host MTVs 1/2 hour comedy hour. They were part of a weekly comdedy show at a restaruant called Lola's, where my ex was a waitress.
Micheal J. Fox, on his way to the beach.
That guy who used to play "Mr. Cooper" on "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper"
I grilled up some food for Chris O'Donnel [sp?] and the red-head southern girl from the first season of "The Real World".
Steven Tyler, when he opened or James Taylor and Carly Simon's reunion concert. (I think ti was called 'farm stock'). I yelled at him from a few feet away.
I worked in a coffee shop called 'Espresso Love' with Sophie Dahl, who is the grandaghter of Roahld Dahl (now a Supermodel).
That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there were others.
