OT - Computer Help

This morning I was hit with a problem when attempting to open Outlook 2000. It started to open then "froze" and then an error message came up saying "Low System Resources."

If I try and close the application it just freezes. I have't added anything to my computer in a while. I ran a virus check and came up nil. I am lost on what could be causing this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't remember seeing an OT announcement... only OT polls.

My mistake if we were to limit OT posts.

I don't think anyone will have a problem with this one post. It looks like thise is the only OT post on the first page right now. It is funny though. I think this post went up at about the same time the announcement came down.

As to your problem, while I'm not by any means a computer expert, I have one question. How much memory do you have? Also, if you know how, check to see what programs are loading at startup.

I have 256 Ram. 40 Gig HD. 966 Processor.

I don't have any programs running at start-up. That's what's weird. I haven't changed anything on my computer for a long time. This problem is just all of the sudden. It seems as if Outlook has some kind of memory leak when it opens now...

Well, I don't really have any suggestions them besides reinstalling outlook. It may very well be all it needs.

Do you keep all your email in your Inbox? Do you have a lot? If you do it may be that there are 2 many in one folder, if you ever do get it to open up again try creating different folders for different message types, then making archive folders for old messages.

Run a full virus scan just in case as well.

what OS win98? win2k? winxp? Check the load on your computer using task manager or resource manager. See if your ram is getting eaten up? Try unloading apps from your taskbar, that should free resources.

If you run win98, or ME you will not get much more than 128mb of use out of your ram. IT can only handle that much, everything else is useless. The NT kernels can handle more, try upgrading to win2k/xp.
