OT: Don't Forget to Spring Forward!

Just a public service announcement for those of you affected by Daylight Savings Time. (I have a D&D game tomorrow and I can almost guarantee one of my guys will show up an hour early. Wouldn't be the first time. :))

This means, unfortunately, I can't miss an hour of a bridal shower I have to go to tomorrow :\

I could have "forgotten" to spring ahead...

Ah well, 4 hours of pretending I care about tupperware and bridal bouquets. Blech.

Ummm.... when setting the clock forward, the people who forget to set it forward are late by an hour, not early. Cuz 1:00 Standard Time becomes 2:00 Daylight Time after springing forward. So if someone is supposed to be somewhere at 1:00 but they are still on Standard Time, it'll be 2:00 Daylight Time when they arrive at 1:00 Standard Time. Confused yet? Me too.

BTW, does anyone else think DST smacks of a very evil April Fool's Day prank? I mean if someone said on April 1st to set your clocks forward by an hour then no one would ever do it, but by delaying a few days everyone thinks the jokes are over. Of course that is the absolute best time to play an April Fool's Day prank, right when everyone least expects it.

Ahh DST, my favorite time of the year. Why? Cause I live in Indiana, one of the few states in the US that ignores Daylight Savings Time ( or at least the vast majority of the state does). http://www.mccsc.edu/time.html Add to this the fact that a few counties do observe DST, and that Indiana has counties in the Eastern Time Zone and Central Time Zone and what do you have?

Confusion.

I live in the Sw corner of the state, a border area between the observers and non observers. My parents live but 30 miles away but for most of the year are an hour behind me. In addition ENWorld doesnt have a clock option of Indiana (East) time zone, so all my baoard clock settings are off and have to be manually reset. More importantly, the viewing times of my favorite TV programs get all messed up :(

Minor things to be sure but annoying after a short lifetime of dealing with "slow" and "fast" time. To the State of Indiana: please please please fix the whole Savings Time mess. For me. Ok?

I think DST is an evil plot by those weirdos who prefer to get up in the morning and be active during the day (as opposed to us normal people who think getting up before noon is something to be avoided). This way everyone has to get up an hour earlier, only they pretend it's the same time. Bleah!
