First Post
Well, I recently discovered I was gay, and I really want to know just how many others surf these boards. It's depressing really... high school's gonna suck A LOT. All of the guys who might be gay are either 1.) don't know they are yet or 2.) are afraid to admit it. Or possibly 3.) in denial. Which sucks for me. Not to mention the fact that I live in Texas and will be going to a Catholic high school. I bet 95 percent of the people there will be homophobic. Long term, I'm also worried. I mean... I WANT the perfect 2.5 kids household. I WANT kids. And I might not even be able to adopt them. *sigh* The only good part of this is that I'm much more likely to find a guy that shares my interests (anime, Video Games, Roleplaying) than a girl.

EDIT: C word edited out. Not an intended political rant.

Thanks for posting, and good luck to you in high school.

Now ... we have rules around here regarding political content. Just as we wouldn't allow someone to start bashing you for your beliefs, way of life, whathaveyou, neither will we allow folks to bash "conservatives" or whatever.

So, with that in mind ... this thread can only survive if folks can stay away from political and religious discussion. Everyone, please keep it on topic and friendly. Thanks!

My apologies. Please, nobody comment on my conservative comments. Just pointing out that it does make it harder on gay people. Now if only Angcuru was on....

nothing to see here.

I realize that being a teenager entering high school and feeling like an outsider is tough, and I don't envy your situation. I was never 'mr. popularity' myself, but managed to settle in with a decent crowd and shuffle my way through the 4 years of nonsense that is high school.

Keep in mind though, there are conservatives/republicans/righties/whatever that don't hate you and your lifestyle. Sure, we aren't completely comfortable with it, and find it hard to relate sometimes, but we aren't going to come around beat you up or deny you your place in society.

chatdemon, Eric Noah himself specifically told Tidus "neither will we allow folks to bash "conservatives" or whatever." What more do you want?

Come on, lets be mature and allow a borderline political thread to stay open. Don't mess it up, please.

Tidus, I game with the aforementioned Angelsboi. He only visits the board occasionally these days, but I will point this thread out to him.

And hang in there on the 2.5 kids. When you hear a big deal being made about civil rights issues it often means that things are in the process of changing. It is probably a good time to be gay, compared to the past. I personally know lesbian couples who have adopted, in Georgia. In fact, they were actually able to have themselves listed as "mother" and "other parent" on the adoption certificates.

[Note, I am trying not to comment on the political beliefs or opinions of the status of the law, just informing Tidus.]

Did you not read Eric's post? Also the person posting already apologized for his comments about conservatives. I think the post is fine if everyone keeps things civil and follows the rules.

Truthfully, you probably should worry about High School. Not because of conservatives of liberals of left wing this or right wing that...but because teenagers have this habit of being...well....teenagers. I would suggest not making a big deal about it...High School isn't all that bad really, but teenagers will be teenagers, and if you just don't really make such a huge deal of it, you shouldn't have to worry that much.

I feel your pain and you're certainly not alone here. I think I lucked out being slow enough not to figure it out until I was past high school.
