[OT] Help me with PDF

I have pagemaker, trying to create a PDF of my book so i can put it up for sale as a pdf for those who want it that way.

I can make PDF's fine and they view fine, but when i print the PDF the graphics are crappy and i can't get any graphics on the left side pages.

I am about to kill the elves in my computer, they have just gone too far this time.

Any of you more literate PDF people out there able to help me?

Describe the process you use and which programs are your fashion. I'm sure once that info is on here that someone who works in a similar way will be able to give you some pointers on where to seek out the trouble and make adjustments in your parameters.

*edit* I should point out that I do not use pagemaker so I do not know if there are add-ons or other programs involved such as designing in Word, then importing into PM, perhaps, etc. *end edit*

Here's what i do.

1 Open pagemaker file "On Those Who Pray."
2 Select File>Export>Adobe PDF
3 Select PDF style of "Print"
4 Hit Export and get lists of things adobe's doing
get error message "EPS doesn't have font or has it embedded..blah blah for one of my charts.. *the chart prints perfectly*
5 Open PDF
6 Print PDF
7 Watch how printed PDF doesn't really look like screen PDF
8. Curse. Hit head.
9. There is no nine..... yet....

edit: i have taken out the chart and not received the error mesasge and have had the same problems with printing my side graphics. only on the left side.

You might be able to corect this by opening the distiller, selcting job options, and making sure that the fonts always embed. Worth a look and a try, I suppose. I'll keep thinking. It might also be good to ask a mod to slide this over to the d20 pub forum where a higher percentage of readers might have some options for you to try. *shrug*

the embedding font issue isn't really an issue because the table prints fine and the font is arial. everyone has arial.

its the graphics part. i don't understand why my border graphics print on the right side but not on the left and on my title page i have (image) title (image) and again only the image on the right is priting.

my mind boggles....

That is odd, Lord Wobblington. Have you tried checking with people on a Pahemaker support forum? I do not have that, as said, or I might be more helpful.

Were i to respond as my PDF seems too....

I think im alone now, there doesn't seem to be anyone around

Are the graphics not printing at all, or just low quality?

How do you have the file set up in PM? WHen you go it to page set up do you have it set for facing pages? THis can change your borders on diffrent pages.

Also, what about the print limits of your printer, are you to far out on the left side? (most printers have one side that has to have a larger unprinable area so it can hold on to the paper)

Not sure these will help, just trying to get a better understanding of issue.

they're printing out in low quality. i have 600 dpi images so they should be fine- on screen i have a beautiful PDF, only get problems when printing. the graphics that do print print poorly and the left side grapics don't print at all. the one grapic i have stretching the entire width of the paper prints poorly, but at least prints.

i've changed my borders to be .75, inside and out so page facing isn't an issue.

The image is 1.5 inches thick and is set 1/8 of an inch from the end of the paper so i should be getting all but 1/8 of the picture

any help is better than none. I'm doing my darnest to avoid speaking to anyone from adobe. I don't particullary feel like staying on the phone for hours right now...
