Smoke and scorched snags

We're off to the beach... Can't get any more Australian than that. :D

We're having a barbecue with the neighbours and keeping an ear on the local ABC in case bushfires sweep into the northern and north-western suburbs. That's pretty Australian too.

Regards,

Aren't you guys under a fire ban today?

Went down to Queenscliff yesterday for the Ocean Swim (fourth this month for me!), so am spending the day recovering from yesterdays EXTREME heat (and today's presumably excessive heat), sunburn, a day of driving and swimming. Sleep would be nice.

Have to try and find something to do tonight though - I'm beginning to get bored.

And yes, I suppose that most of the state is under fire ban today, but what is Australia Day without a barbecue? (I had sausages for breakfast, first time for a long time. I'm feeling kinda ill now - I'm basically vegetarian most of the time) I suppose that gas BBQ's are going to be damn popular, especially those in public parks and so on...

Since Oztralia day falls on a Sunday this year, I think it's pretty Australian to miss half of it due to sleeping off our boozy Saturday night.

Here it is, nearly 1:00pm and I just woke up.

You can't get more Australian than that.

Oh... and since I fell asleep on the beach yesterday morning, I'm nursing a stomach the colour of beetroot.

Mmmm.... beetroot...

Yeah was in bed till late morning 'cause of sat night, then just spent the rest of the day building and riding mtn bike trails with two fellas I met yesterday.
Happy Australia day!

Mark... do you keep track of every holiday that comes along? :)

Thanks for the thoughts. We got some light rain here in Ballarat, something we badly need. Actually, we badly need heavy rain - particularly in north-eastern Victoria and around Canberra where all the bushfires are.

I've never seen a summer so dry. :(

Cheers!

That's because it is the dryest January on record so far.
