[OT] How to dispose of a collection?

I've already offered him the following on stuff he wants to grab:

He pays me my portion (60%) of the value of any item he wants. Value to be determined among the following:

1) Average of sells on eBay over the last 30 days (weighted for quality, I'm assuming, will be one addition I'll have to make)

2) 80% of price on Noble Knight, Titan Games, Dragon Trove, or Le Valet d'Coeur (this last reduced, because it's Canadian)

3) 30% of cover price.

Obviously, there are going to be some negotiations (a rare item might be wanted, so rare it doesn't appear on eBay or one of the used game sites).

Main things I'm worried about are burglary and flooding. (Where I live, in Napa CA, we've had three 100-year floods in a five year period.)

And I'm going to have SO much fun going through all of my boxes, writing down everything, putting it in a spreadsheet, and so on.... (I'm not big on organization. )

Don't forget about grading the stuff. Noble Knight has a fairly straightforward grading system. I would suggest that you find *someones* grading system and stick to that when describing your stuff.

And another note about eBay, if you elect to sell internationally you will widen your audience and increase the bid price a lot. There is a terrific market for used gaming stuff in asia, and people willing to pay top money for stuff like Planescape and Forgotten Realms stuff. When I sold my stuff off, fully 2/3 of the sales were to Japan.

I am somewhat familiar with Ebay. And while some stuff zooms along and gets a good price, others sit there and get sold for a bargain.

It all depends.

I meant no offense with what I said - just advising caution. A contract would be helpful, of course.

Not to worry; LA is having one of its driest years in awhile, and Thomas lives in a second floor apartment. Unless a biblical-quality flood happens, I think it'll be safe. (And if one of those happens, we've got bigger things to worry about than water damage on some gaming stuff...)

Anyone who ends up actually buying any of my stuff has got to please let me know that it's in use. One of the main reasons (aside from the cash ) for me selling off this stuff is to get it back into use. Some of this stuff has been stored for nine years, never once being used in a game while I owned it. The poor things probably forgot what it's like to be part of a fun group activity.

A very quick method of disposal with some return: Give it to the Salvation Army. Make a list of the items with your best estimate of value, get a receipt, and claim the charitable donation at tax time.

I kinda doubt that the Salvation Army would do anything more than just dump all of this in the garbage. I want to get this stuff back in circulation, not destroy it permanently. (Then again, there MIGHT be some liberal-minded people there.)
