Why are the Mushrooms a part of the Bridge to Eternity?

The mushroom domes are called so due to their general form. They are the foundation and entrance to the Bridge to Eternity. You can see a picture of a dome here: http://perry-rhodan.net/html/1/1883tibi.html

What role do they play in the magic and the foundations of the Bridge?

Apart from what I have said above, not much is known about either the domes or the Bridge.

If a person stopped world war II, world war I, every disease including cancer, car accidents, the Taliban, and a nuclear disaster: I think that there wouldn't be too many people trying to stop them from killing one person. Two people. Ten people. One hundred people. One thousand people. One million people. Do I ask a billion? No, I think thats the line. Carte Blanche has its limits, before someone changes thier mind and does something about it (even an outsider that was not part of the "wish" cast over the people could eventually decide that enough was enough.)

What I really should have said was that, by playing in the IR, I learned to cater to my players first. They die, they fight, they sing, they joke, and they get to make the choices. I don't make decisions about them as a whole before I ask them

OOC: what they think. Then I decide what should happen [IC]. It really helps, though I am still the most sinister combat planner any of my PCs have ever tried to hack through... (not to say I'm anywhere near the level that some of the people on this board are).

The troll-slayers came to the ENBoards since you left, with a very large amount of Greek Fire and magical fire spells, and trolls nowadays don't stand a chance against them.
