[OT] Icewind dale 2?

I have it and love it. As far as the 3rd edition inclusions, they are prominent but sparse. There are a smattering of feats and skills, and the core 3e rules seem to be used, and its PARTY BASED! NWN is way more 3e compliant and complete, but its not party based, which makes me give my hardcore roleplayer vote to IWD2.

Just my .02

I have Icewind Dale II, First of the the 3E question it uses the system of feats and skills like 3E, there are some feats that are left out as well as some new ones that are not in the 3E game. The skills quite a few of them got left out from what I remember. The character creation is point buy and you make your entire party of six characters right from the start. All the classes and races from the PHB are included as well as most of the +1 ECL races from the FRCS book. If you want to know more about the feats that are new just post and I will post tonight when I get home from work.

As far as the game goes the graphics/sounds and interface go right back to the quality of BG. The game is fun to play but after following NWN I personally was a little let down with the graphics and game play. The game is as linear as the first not much in the way of side quests from BG, but took me 2 weeks or regular game play to finish.

This is just my opinion of the game though If you like the original Icewinde Dale you should find the same enjoyment in this one.

But like I said just my 2 coppers :)

Heya:

Although it uses point buy, the point buy is _not_ weighted and stats can be lowered to 3 (before racial adjustments) earning points 1 for 1. If I recall, that means that your starting stats can add up to a total of 76.

Personal (and quick) opinion: Well worth it if you like the Infinity Engine and like hack-n-slash and like linearity and like (a bit) of 3rd Edition flavor. Oh, and like hack-n-slash, or did I already mention that?

Take care,
Dreeble

Does anyone have this game yet?

and if so can you answer these questions.

how much of 3rd edition is used in the game?

Do you like the game?

I have it, and I really like it. It's sucking up way too much of my free time. I've completed the prologue and am in the early part of chapter one. I would be farther along, but I have re-starter's syndrome. I want to find the perfect party, you see.

It uses 3E pretty well, IMO, although some feats and skills have been eliminated or changed slightly. For example, Spellcraft & Knowledge (Arcana) help you identify magic items. Also, some weapon proficiencies have been changed. Spear is a martial weapon. A short sword is a simple weapon. But by and large, they did a good job.

If you buy it, my bet is that you'll like it.
