[OT] I'm back from San Francisco...

Originally posted by ColonelHardisson Thanks for the info! Y'know, my brother has gone to SF on business several times, and I can never convince him to go to the House so he can tell me about it or pick up a souvenir or two.

Well, I'm a year-round member, so if you're looking for souvenirs sometime, let me know. My folks are coming out to visit for the first time in late March, and I'm sure we'll be visiting the house again then.

5 minutes away? That would be fantastic! [snip] Anyway, I really like having such close access to tourist spots like that - I'm a sucker for landmarks and such. Especially odd ones.

If you like Victorian architecture, the house is marvellous for that experience alone, even without the additional wierdness, etc. associated with it.

Shoot me an email if you want me to nab you something next time I'm there. I have their softcover book about the mansion which is quite good, as well as several postcards with images of the Tiffany stained glass windows, the beautiful woodwork, etc., etc.

FYI, my home DSL is down through the 12th, so I'll get back to you sometime after that time; if you want to chat about it prior to then, use my work email of agrohe@juniper.net.

When I buy donuts I usually find myself inside of a "Happy Donut" since those are the ones that are all over the place. They're not too greasy and they taste much like donuts anywhere else in the world that I've had them. :D

Also happy doughnuts are open 24 hours a day, which is mmmnn mnnn good in my mind especially when you come in and they are hot out of the oven. I think krispy kreme does a good glazed doughnut but happy doughnuts is my favorite doughnut place overall. Apple friters(sp?) yummy...(and I haven't seen these in NY so they may be a west coast doughnut treat)

It's, well, a donut :-)

Wasnt it originally a Southern chain of shops? I actually saw them in LA before I saw them up here in SF, but someone there told me they were from somewhere in the SouthEast. The best part of them is the giant machine that makes the glazed donuts fresh before your eyes. (The glazed ones hot off the machine are the best, the others are just ordinary donuts.) Anyway, if you like mechanical things, you will love the machine. And the donut is OK too.

Also, where did my darn Quotes go? Didnt there used to be a button right here to click on to make things Quoted?! I seem to have misplaced it and dont remember the HTML token. Huh.

That's the big joke really...

California is not what people think it is climate wise.
Those blond bikini babes and such only exist in the last hundred or so miles of the southern half of the state. LA's got too much pollution and gangs for most of it's beaches. :D

Go inland to central CA and it's like living in an oven... including the smoke (or smog in this case).

I rather thought it was warm for the time of year these past few weeks but I was born here.

By the way; what's a Krispy Kreme donut?

You are funny, Gangs and Bikin Babes? Please, besides Venice and Long Beach I would like to know about the other beaches along the Southern California Coast that contain Gangs or should I say have a Gang problem? B.T.W. Every Major City has a pollution problem.

T.B. I only ask because the last couple of times I visited the Bay area, I nearly died twice being in a cab. I think the game Crazy Taxi was inspired by the cab drivers in San Fran. I was also told by my friends (local San Fran folk) to be aware of the Frisco Cabbies.
