[OT] I'm the happiest little gammer ever!

We'll it finally arrived!

What you may ask? My brand new (to me, its only NM) copy of the Dungeons & Dragons boxed basic set from 1981. :)

Keep of the borderlands here I come again!

But more than that it has the original dice! Hahahaha I even need to find a crayon to color them in with! sweet.

*cackle*

dearies, back in my day, we colored in our dice with a crayon -- and we LIKED doing it that way!

Now, go eat your spinach, and clean your plates like good little fighters and sorcereresses... and say your prayers before bedtime, or Hextor will take you!

*cackles maniacally*

Hah. The copy I bought still had the dice AND the crayon, still in their original, unopened plastic baggie...and I don't think the books have ever been looked at.

I remember the wax crayon that comes with the dice worked better than a Crayola crayon, but any crayon will work. I assume you will use the traditional white color.

I'm going to play in a brief game soon using the old D&D basic red book with the Erol Otus cover, running through White Plume Mountain. Can't wait. Wish I had some old-school-ey dice to use. Perhaps I should shop around for some.

I bought the set just for the dice.. they're the ugly green ones, not the yellowey ones.

i would love to find a set of original Dragon Dice (TM). they ones that were blue with the black crayon, not the crappy dice game they put out 10 years latter.

btw, i want to put up a poll about what color crayon to use for my dice, but i have NO idea how to post a poll... anyone want to walk me through the process... don't know how to put up the toggle/vote buttons.. etc. thanks!

well, until you put up your poll, I'll let you know that metallic crayons look very cool in dice. I used silver in my Game Science trans. purple ones and a pearly apple green in the trans. blue. Crayola and a couple other companies make great shimmery, metallic crayons. Any color you do decide on, make sure the crayon in opaque enough to show up. Have fun.
