[OT] In memoriam: Australian Test Cricket

Thats explains it then. Oh well, we should organise Australia to play a couple of 1 test series vs Zimbabwe and Bangladesh (Just who have Bangladesh played in a test match anyway? Have they won any???).

I don't know who Bangladesh has played, but I do know they haven't won any.

And, while on the topic of the less successful cricketing nations, are all the Canadians out there aware that they are participating in the World Cup this year?

I think it is rather amusing that the Aussies have hammered us over the series (4-1?) and yet can be upset that we have clawed a mere ignominous defeat from the wreckage of total humilation which we were heading for... :)

You weren't at the game seeing the Barmy Army celebrate. Oh the humanity......, the dancing..., the chanting..., the beer snakes, it's too much to bear. You know how much we're going to have to hear about this defeat from every single English backpacker we meet? Roll on 2004 and the chance to bury England 5-0 so we can get respite. Either that or the chance to knock them out of the world cup :D

My brother in law lives in Sydney, and he has been having a pretty unbearable time recently... I imagine that he's able to hold his head up a little now that he's got *some* kind of response to make to his co-workers!

(BTW, I've always had a great reception when I've visited Oz myself... there may be a great sporting rivalry, but I've found few people as genuinely accepting as the Aussies - I can understand why so many Brits choose to live there!)

Cheers

Yeah I can imagine. The only thing we like to gloat about more than whipping the English is beating New Zealand. I'm kind of glad to see you guys show some sterner stuff, it's no fun winning against a team who can't beat you. :D

Know you know how every German feels when they meet an Englishman while travelling, all the English point out the 5-1 win in qualification, but somehow seem to forget the 1-0 defeat at home in the last game at Wembley, as well as the fact Germany went to the finals in the World Cup (shockingly) ;) heheh

We have to take our small victories where we can :D It's not like drawing 2-2 at home to Macedonia was anything to crow about...sigh.

Oh, and Yay! the English for not losing 5-0. I honestly didn't think it was possible. :) And I'm an ever-hopeful-Englishman.
