I'm not a baptised Catholic but I pretty much consider myself Catholic. My father is Catholic and all of his side of the family is Catholic.
My father is the one who got me into fantasy by reading me Tolkien's books as bedtime stories when I was young.
Catholicism puts emphasis on faith but also on reason and philosophy. I have never met any Catholic who had a problem with D&D or fantasy.
My mother, who was a rabid conservative Protestant, was convinced I was going to hell when I first took up D&D back in the 80's. But my dad just rolled his eyes whenever she went on a tirade and he would give me back all my books whenever she would try to take them from me.
She's mellowed out a lot in her later years. And doesn't even care about D&D anymore!
