excellent site. even so, the pop-ups kind of take the sting out of it a bit. aren't they just noise of an intellectual kind?

Same thing here, I didn't even know the site had pop-ups. Of course my reason is slightly different, I'm using Opera not a pop-up stopper.

Oy, this reminds me of my neighbors. I should print this out for them.
Let's see.
1) They bought their musically inept boy a drum set.
2) They own a go-cart. (Though I haven't heard it lately.)
3) They have to rev their truck's motor a half-dozen times before going anywhere.
4) They have loud parties, even with the windows closed.
5) Their house is in a dip in the road (the road rises both directions from their house), so they of course set up a skateboard ramp.
6) Because of #5, all the kids on their street congregate in front of their house.
7) They have loud arguments.
At the least, they don't have a dog.
The worst part is, they're right outside of my bedroom window. For THREE YEARS, I worked grave shift. I tried to sleep during the day, but often ended up with less than four hours sleep (and don't even ask how much of that was R.E.M. sleep). I personally blame them for my one at-fault car accident. I also blame them for the fact that many times, when driving home (commuting 35 minutes--probably 15 miles; through winding backcountry roads masquerading as a 'highway'!), I've played chicken with 18-wheelers, when I fell asleep at the wheel.
I hate them. I hate them so much. I want to go over there with an axe, and just trash that teenager's drum set. I want to take some sugar, and pour it in the gas tank of that truck. I want to stick gravel all over the road for when the next time they do their skateboarding. I wish they'd move. I wish they'd just go away. They are terrible people. I have to sleep with earplugs in, because I can't sleep without them. Even with damping out almost 30 dB, I still can hear them. I'm a light sleeper, my sleep patterns are shot, I have bags under my eyes, I'm constantly tired.
The street they live on, it used to be a nice open field. But everywhere in my city (Napa, CA), they're filling in open space. There was one big open field, kept safe by two elderly gentlemen. They're dead now, and the field is being salivated over by greedy developers, building more of those dang $400,000 - $1,000,000 houses. More spoiled rich kids, tramping past my house. Great. I hate kids. I hate neighbors. I want to live in a quiet neighborhood. Maybe a retirement community. (Of course, then the slow drivers would drive me nuts....)
