Just bumping it to the top...Conference Finals start today. Lets get the new predictions rolling.
East: Devils over Sens in 6
West: Wild over the Ducks in 7

What do you mean Wild beating the Ducks? No way man.

In East, it don't matter cuz the Ducks will in it all. I do hope Sens pull off the upset over the devils, but this is a wacky playoffs.

I think they opened this one, because the other was sooooo long. Probably had something to do with server space and the size of the thread or something.
Since the Conf. Finals are now starting it doesn't seem like a bad idea to start a continuation anyway.
Though I like the Ducks I think fate is on the side of Wild. Two incredible comebacks!

Okay, a few things here.
Kudos to Minnesota for winning. But get a grip...er..udder:
Minnesota can be damned exciting for about 5 minutes of any given game. The rest of the time they clog up the ice and make the game like molasses. Their style of play is almost universally considered boring. Systemically brilliant, but ultimately bad for the game.
The Canucks outshot the Wild by a fair to large margin on six out of seven games. The difference was the Wild managed to capitalize on their chances and took advantage of some stellar goaltending. Before you criticize the Canucks about not playing as a team, you should actually know something about them. They play for eachother. The present incarnation of the Canucks show great teamwork and genuinely like and play for eachother.
Why did Minnie win that game?
(1) A FLUKEY first goal from Pascal Dupuis.
(2) A bad bounce on the second goal.
(3) Poor officiating (you're right there, but not like you think) It was consistently inconsistent throughout that series. What's with a 2-0 advantage in penalties in a Game 7? Sorry, but that is BRUTAL. You mean when Brandon Reid took a stick to the face, that wasn't a penalty? What about the clutching and grabbing that any player trying to enter the Wild zone had to play through? If you wanna harp on about officiating, I'd draw your attention to games 5 and 6. Truly mind-blowingly bad at times. I would say the officiating helped cost Vancouver 2 of the four games they lost.
(4) Cloutier couldn't pull it off on the third and fourth goals. He also couldn't play well in one of the last three games
(5) Great Minnesota teamwork and adherence to a stifling yet opportunistic system. I'll give them full credit. Every single one played above and beond the call of duty.
(6) Like or hate Bertuzzi. He draws a lot on himself. He's got a chip on his shoulder. But he's living proof of a double standard in officiating. His back must be black from the crosschecks he took in that series. His shoulders and spine must be totally out of alignment from having players hanging off him. He plays hards and he has lots of borderline tricks he plays, but the amount of abuse, cross-checking and stickwork he takes is frightening.
As for your comments on Crawford, you don't know what you're talking about. Crawford is super classy. You might not like his coaching style (which is loud) and many of his players don't like him too much. But you can't say he has no class. You're saying he didn't look them in the face when he shook hands? That's unsportsmanlike? Lemaire was the one who disappeared down the tunnel RIGHT after the game (albeit supposedly there was debris falling on the bench, though I didn't see it, and I was there). No handshake at all.
In that series I maybe saw 3 or 4 periods where Minnesota really seemed to dominate the play in the opponent's zone. I went to four of the games, and watched the others religiously. Double that for Vancouver. They just couldn't put away their chances and they in their frustration got away from their game plan.
This might all sound snarky but it would be nice for some grace in victory.
