[ot] Old DOS games patches?

It's hard to find patches for games that are so far out of print. Some of my favorite games, I found the patches years ago, but lost them in my recent crash. So, if anyone can help me find patches for M.A.X. 1 (from Interplay) and MOO 2 (from Microprose), I'd appreciate it. Or, even better, a website that stores all sorts of patches and hackfiles and editors on its own FTP site, AND that has stuff going back as far as 8 years ago...

There should be a patch for MAX1 on interplays website. They archive pretty much everything. Fallout 1 is from 97 i belive, that's 5 years old and the website is still running. Tried the search-engine?

As for microprose, sorry I have no idea.

I managed to get most of the stuff I wanted for MOO2. Corion 2 (which lets you create and edit star systems, create and edit planets and colonies, edit leaders, create and edit ships, and so on), PickHack (which lets you choose the weighted cost of the racial picks), and the 1.31 patch, as well as several saved ship files.

So that, at least, has been recovered. Whew! :)

Okay, after three hours of searching, I FINALLY found out that a website that I thought had disappeared (captaincode.com) actually hadn't. This website is cool: It lets you search for a game, and it'll list all cheats/hints/editors/strat guides/walkthroughs online in a bunch of different websites.

Woo hoo! Now I just have to find the newest version of Corion...

Still a classic, much btter than the second one.

Oy, vey, M.A.X. 2. Blech. Even after, what, four patches, it still wasn't playable. It was a great concept. I loved being able to produce the Concord biomachines (all those Alien things from the first game). The Sheevat units were interesting. But I never managed to get past turn 70 without a game-ruining crash. And saving and reloading, trying to prevent it from happening, didn't work either.

With M.A.X. 1, there's a few leftover bugs. I keep getting engineers stuck. They'll be building something, and then they stop registering as there. I get so sick of it, I have my own units blow them up. In one game, I had to kill about a dozen of my own engineers, because of that problem. (I found out that this bug happens on certain squares. If you stop the engineer or constructor from building in that square, and NEVER use that square, then all is okay. It leads to ragged compounds, however...)

Then there's the bug that crashes the computer to the desktop, too quickly to see what caused it.
