[OT, Personal] Thanks for all the advice

I just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words of support and advice. I've chatted with Tracy, my now ex-girlfriend, on the internet since posting here, and I feel a bit better about what happened. I still have bad spells where I can't help crying, but I'm feeling pretty good. I agree with the reasons she gave. I think breaking of the relationship was a good idea; I just wish she hadn't done it so abrubtly.

Anyway, thanks again.

Oh, by the way, what's the URL of that "geek personals" website that was being discussed a couple months back? I might just want to do some investigating.... ;)

Good to see that things are starting to come around for you. It sure was abrupt, by your description, but maybe that was the only/best way for it to go. Forget about the personals at this point, though. Get the hell out and go do some things that maybe you couldn't do while you were in a relationship. :)

Well, the personal were fun to read, especially when I discovered that some people from this board had posted some ads there. ;)

I've been trying some new things to get my mind off my woes. I've started writing again (I used to keep an online journal), and I've started making a reading list over the summer. I've decided to complete my d20 Middle Earth conversion this summer as a long-term project (which will happily involve reading everything that Tolkien ever wrote). I've started a new exercise regime to try to get into better shape. I've already been on a successful diet for the past couple weeks. So things are looking up. :D

Shake it up, dude!

Those sound like a lot of indoor, "I'm-not-going-out" activities to me. ;)

Go to a restaurant you couldn't go to because it wasn't something she wanted to do. Go see those movies that weren't on the combined list. Take a class or join a group that appeals to you but may not have been possible in the past.

Out! Out I say! :D

Camping is a blast! I'll bet Kentucky has some great places to do that. Any thoughts on trying to make it to the last GenCon in Milwaukee? There's a Chicago Gameday coming up in June. Maybe a little road trip would help your mood? Just some thoughts... :)

Hmmm...I'd love to go to another convention. The one I went to in Memphis was very fun. I'll just have to see.

And, yes, Kentucky has great places to camp and hike. Land Between the Lakes....ahhhhh... :)

Sorry to hear about this Wolfspider and for a late show of support. I have a new baby on my hands and don't get to stop by the boards as often as I used to.
You have probably already been told this, but we have all been there and I am a firm believer in the old "time heals all wounds". My advice is to follow your plan and stay busy. It does you no good to brood over things that have already happened. I think you need a good ol' fashion Star Wars thread flame war:).

Heh. Good idea!

Hmmmm...now I'll have even less incentive to go see Episode II in the theatre since I'm not going out with Tracy. She was ready to drag me to the theatre kicking and screaming the day it opened... ;)
