(ot) story hour advice and pimping

alsih2o

First Post
i have begun chronicling the adventures of my tuesday night campaign. it is a difficult task because of the blend of creative writing and documentation. in the course of trying to improve i have been delving into some other storyhours; i have read some piratecat, sagiro, seasong, jester and the bad craziness of stahn li.

what storyhours would you reccomend for inspiration? which would you reccomend for style? for handling of combat or dialogue?

alternatively, if you want to point out your own way of dealing with ation or dialogue well, please do.

please, if oyu DO NOT like someones storyhour, keep it to yourself. i am looking for the love :)

if you want a player's journal. check out the Story Hour in my sig. it ain't great literature. but it is useful for jogging my memory.

Hey alsih2o. Of course, you should check out Sepulchrave's story hours for excellent dialogue and thought-provoking content. I'd post all of the links, but some people keep compiled copies of the entire story, much easier to read without all of the bumps. Here's the current SH:

And of course, there are always other story hours out there just begging *cough* for attention...

You seem to be reading all the ones I read!

I can also recommend the Jester's SH, at least the one that gets updated on a regular basis, because he has to deal with some very high level characters. Plus, he writes the best tidbits to get you awaiting the next one...:)

Of course you would need to check out Sep and P-kitty, but please check out the Small Beginnings Story Hour, the link is in my sig. This is authored by enkhidu and dshai527. Here are some quotes from posters:

First of all, let me start off by saying once more you guys have become the main reason why I come onto the Story Hour board. While there are other good writers on here, by far, I think you guys are the best. Granted, I may be a bit biased on that view as this was the first story hour I ever read.
Ashy
Truy excellent, as usual, guys!!! Hey, how about an autographed copy of the Story Hour as a prize!

Truly magnificent!! I loved the alternating stories, it really, really worked well as a plot vehicle! And the story just can't be beat.

Rel
Sweet! You just know the next installment is going to be good when the last word of the current one is "Demons!"

Rel is patient
Rel is kind
But post an update
If you don't mind

See?! I'm writing (awful) poetry over here! This is what it's come to! You guys need to post an update. I feel a haiku coming on here.

Plus dshai527 put up a picture of the dice roller you made that he won at the Ohio Game Day! That means you're required to read! Give it a shot, you'll like it.

My favorite story hours have been, over the years:

* Byzantine on the Shannon
* Aquerra associated threads (several of them, IIRC.)
* drnuncheon's Freeport (and other) stories
* Barsoomcore's story is also very well written, and is a homebrew very much along my own tastes.
* jonrog1's Dark*Matter d20 is probably the best written story hour on the boards.

Uh....Oh yeah Clay I posted a picture of your Dice roller in my story hour but I forgot to post it to the Ohio Game Day thread...here it is again just so others can see it in all it's glory.

Also Enkhidu and I often give away prizes during our story hour and I wanted to contact you on prices for another one for us to give away to one of our readers. As you can see the picture actually shows the dice we gave away last time.

coolness, just give me a couple of weeks notice and i am on it :)

Post regularly in bite-sized chunks, and break at interesting places!

Also come and read my storyhour - it is well known to be good luck to read it and add a small comment. Piratecat did, and look what happened to him :D

Cheers

In my opinion you can't beat Wulf's Story Hour for action, humor, and dialogue. It's been said it's the next best thing to R.E. Howard and Fritz Lieber.

Ok, it was said by me... but hey...

You'll have to search for it though, the story's over and the thread's locked, so it is buried deep...
