I'm not sure how you fit the attack on the Pentagon into this worldview.

It's a symbol of DEFENSE, not a symbol of America. The Golden Gate Bridge, Gettysburg, Anetium, the various monuments to war dead, THAT'S an armerican symbols. I know it's not a popular veiw Droth, but that's MY view. It's a stupid thing to happen, yes but not a reason to go to war.

Hmmm...Nightfall, what is a stupid thing to happen, but not a reason to go to war?

Hmm, somehow i feel like srarting a contra-petition - i think the trade-centre towers should be renamed into something less offensive! i mean they copy the booktitle of a book of JRR without paying for it! :D

Try not to get too political folks...I want to keep this thread open 'cause it's funny as heck. :D

(Yeah, I have delusions of being a moderator...LOL)

However I think we can all agree that it DOES NOT refer to the World Trade Center attacks seeing as how they took place 50 years after the book was written.

Well yes... there is also the fact that the book was written some 20 years before the Trade Center was even BUILT. Why are we even talking about this?:p

Actually, Minas Morgul means "tower of sorcery". And it was built to be Minas Anor, "tower of the moon".

Okay, everyone has been wrong on the translations so far.

Minas Tirith is the "Tower of the Guard". It used to be named Minas Arnor, which means "Tower of the Sun".

Minas Morgul is the "Tower of Sorcery". It used to be named Minas Ithil, which means "Tower of the Moon".

The title The Two Towers appears to refer to Orthanc and Minas Morgul, both of which feature prominently in the book.

Being a NYC resident, I feel that this guys post is the insult! Just let it gooooo. Yes it was a tragedy, but all these people out there trying to make the whole d@mn thing PC are insulting the crap out of me. I want to get past the event, not sit here and find ways to keep reliving the whole ordeal.

And though the Twin-Towers were in my sights everyday, I never once thought "Gee, the Two Towers book insults the crap out of me now. Im mad at Tolkien. Waaaah-Waaaaah."

Once Cthuluhu is done with his mercy-killings, send him my way. Im gonna bribe him to eat this petitioner and then eat me. Blessed mercy. Mmmm.

Actually, the golden gate bridge is a symbol of engineering, Gettysburg of fine horsemanship, and the statue of liberty a symbol of french green women everywhere.

Would a auto-generating email program overload the ENworld servers more? It still might be a good idea to send a few posters a clue.
