IIRC, people's fascination with SF has already helped NASA in the past. Can't remember how, though...

Interesting. He must be a fan trying to find a way to get other fans actively supporting NASA. It's pie-in-the-sky and will never happen, but I would support it.

It's an interesting idea that could be used in more areas then SciFi/NASA. I remember a British cigarette-brand called Death. The packs were all black and featured a skull and bones. X% of the profits went to cancer research.
