Speaking of columnists, there's this writer named Dave Peyton. My name, too, is Dave Peyton. There have been a few times when, upon introducing myself, people are like "Really?!"

I hope it's a sign of greater things to come.

In college, my first roommate's name was Dave. On the first day in the dorms, when the RA was holding the "get to know you" floor meeting, Dave's alarm clock started going off. He couldn't figure out how to shut it off, so he smashed it on the floor and proceeded to jump up and down on it until it was in little tiny pieces. All this while the entire floor watched, dumbfounded. I silently mouthed out the words "help me" and everyone laughed. During our years at college, he went on to earn lots of flattering nicknames like Baseball Bat Dave and Captain Daveman.

I have to say that I know only two Daves:

Dave McGlynn, one of the nicest firefighters I know; fights the blaze and gets me laid(by women, of course).

Philipino Dave, the biggest hothead and jerk in the state of New Jersey(or at least Middlesex County). So easy to provoke that I don't even mean to do it!
