This is going to sound like denial, I guess. And also like one of the pathetically practical things that blokes say to avoid acknowledging emotion. But:
I can't help thinking of the approach Christopher Reeve has taken with his paralysis, viz: There will be a cure for AIDS one day. Your job is to keep yourself alive until that day. It may be tough. In fact, it will be tough. But you can do it.
Your career now is 'HIV survivor'. It's going to take diligence and determination. You are going to need vocational skills. Step One is to accept. Step Two is to learn. Step Three is to apply. I wish you the best of luck, but you aren't going to rely on luck. It's going to be knowledge and diligence that get you through.
