[OT, Videogames] Square and Nintendo reunite...

Porting is the wave of the future, my friends. :)

Why limit yourself to one system when you can hit a much bigger base by going for as many people as you can hit, with (fairly) minor programming tweaks?

I think it's awesome...now I can once again play Zelda and Final Fantasy on the same system!

...and now we also have a chance to get those FF 1 and 2 remakes for the GBA. BOOYAH! :)

Point taken about Nintendo, but the gate works both ways.

Oh I understand that very well and I'll end up with all the systems eventually so I don't care who makes what for what.

As for Yamauchi, hate can make people do really stupid things. Square has wanted to work out a deal to make GBA games for a while, but Nintendo was holding things up. If I remember correctly because they wanted Square to commit to the GC as well which Square had been unwilling to do. Apparently they worked things out.

What would surprise me is if Square developed solely for Nintendo, that would be an extremely poor marketing decision.

Seeing as how Sony is now a part owner of Square I can't see that ever happening (despite both parties saying Sony has no say in business decisions).

This makes me jubilant. Hopefully Square will fix my one problem with FF1. If two people are set to attack the same creature and Fighter kills Wood Imp, Thief Misses. AARGH I hate that. Why cannot Thief attack another Wood Imp?

Maybe it will be fixed. In Super Mario World they made it where you could save at any time so quite possibly it could be done.

Of course I could be totally a clone now. Oops too much Weird Al I meant alone now.

I don't know much about what they did with the actual mechanics behind the game, but the redone FF1 for the Wonderswan Color in Japan is quite nice. I have an odd feeling that that is what they will be doing for the GBA, if they produce older NES/SNES games for it.

I'm happy. ^_^

I still think the best Square games ever were on the SNES. Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy 4 and 6 (or 2 and 3), Chrono Trigger....

They have yet to equal the cool-factor of those games. They have tried, but have fallen short...sometimes REALLY short, sometimes not so far.

Say what you would about Nintendo's hyper-sensative review panel of castrators...er...I mean censors...those games did fully kick butt.
