[OT] Who is Dorian Gray?

The ads for the LXG film are advertising a character named Dorian Gray. I'm sure I've heard that name before. Where's he from?

From a novel by Oscar Wilde, the Picture of Dorian Gray. From the previews, it doesn't look like they lifted much from the book besides the name and something resembling the basic idea.

He's from The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde. Basically, he's a sophisticated urbanite who gets painted for him a portrait that ages instead of him. So he's effectivly immortal and can run about London committing all sorts of immoral acts, and only the portrait looks the worse for wear.
It's somewhat odd that he's a good guy in LXG. I don't think he was in the original comic.

Ah yes, but at the end of Dracula (and the League comic, er, graphic novel), Mina Harker is de-vampirized. Her original asset was merely her knowledge of the supernatural, not her actually being supernatural herself (anymore).

Um, Alan Quartermain was a washed up drug-addict in the comic, and I think later on in the actual novels as well. And Tom Sawyer wasn't even in the original graphic novel...

Captain Nemo while not a 'bad guy' was also not a 'good guy'. He followed his own way of things and took life if was against him. The League was not about good guys.
