Doesn't spam usually try to sell you something? I've actually seen emails that are generated by a junk mail generator. It works like mad-libs and then sends it to whoever you want to send it to. I once read through a lengthy diatribe trying to figure out if they were actually complaining about our website or if they were trying to sell me something. In the end I shrugged and hit the delete key.

Don't send him your equipment. I did and he never sent me my $50,000.
I thought I was going to make a killing, it only cost me $4000 to collect all the parts and put that stuff together.
I have contacted one of the local TV stations to see if one of their 'fraud-watch' reporters can help me get my stuff back or my money.

Sometimes people send stuf fishing for valid email addresses. if you respond to it (even just to say, what the heck are you talking about) you let the person on the other end know that the address is active and they can sell that information to a spammer.

You were just unlucky, I didn't recive any of the money directly but a letter left to my by my grandmother in her will thanked me for the money I sent her through a future grandson I have yet to have.... so it kinda all worked out ok.....
