[OT] Why would all my magazines stop arriving?

I mean, ALL our magazines. We noticed it first when everybody else on the boards started talking about the latest Dragon... but we still haven't gotten it.

All my other magazines (we get three or four) are several weeks late now as well.

I mean, who do you call when your magazines stop showing up? We still get junk mail "magazines" and our bills and letters, just nothing we've subscribed to.

Who do you talk to? Well, I'd first start with the source, the magazine seller. Dragon Mag (Paizo publishing) Time Magazine, whatever. If they claim they are mailing them, next I'd go to the Post Office and say, "Hey, who's getting my magazines, because it sure as heck isn't me?!" But don't make those post office people too mad...

I've definitely heard of scams where people fill out a change of address form for somebody else and then receive and abuse their personal data contained in billing statements, bank statements, etc.


Keep a very sharp eye out to make sure you really are getting all your regular mail--maybe send a few test pieces. If anything else is notably missing, be sure to contact the post office and your credit cards and banks immediately.

(Of worthy note, a few straggling pieces of mail still come to us form previous residents at our address, even though the change of address form was filed quite a few months ago. They get most of their current mail at their current address, but the flow to the old address hasn't shut off completely or suddenly.)

Where I am, I don't worry about it so much - shipping to New Zealand is long and slow from just about anywhere of interest. I haven't got anything in the mail for months (not counting bank statements), and sometimes I get three issues of the same monthly magazine in a week. It's crazy.

That said, it's no excuse for you not getting your stuff... do you sometimes get mail for other people on nearby streets? We do (I don't know how Winston Street and Spencer Street can get mixed up, but apparently they're immensely similar and confusing...). It could be the reverse of that.

Just another piece of paranoia to brighten your day.

They're out to get me... I know it... They start with the little things, like stealing your magazines. The postman's in on it too. I can only hide so long....

We called the folks for one magazine, and they said I wouldn't get an issue until June because I renewed my subscription late. Why that causes a 4-month break in issues, I have no idea.

The folks at Dragon said they would try re-sending it.
