Whatever happened to global warming anyway?

It's global. It can have weird freezing effects in some places. For example, it is possible a warming of Atlantic waters would modify the trajectory of the Gulf Stream. In his case, Europe would be deprived of this steady flow of warm water and, while the planet would be on average a handful of celsius degrees warmer, Europe would freeze.

I think I own 1 long sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt. Maybe I shoudl turn the air conditioner off. I had to do that this morning when I started my car.

Remind me to beat you.

It's freakin' freezing here. KidC and I took the dogs on a long walk around the lake at Wellesley College yesterday, and with shirt/polar fleece/ski jacket I managed to stay mostly warm. Remind me again why we didn't get legless boxhounds when we got dogs? This is the time of year when taking something lazy for a drag around the kitchen seems like pretty good exercise.

Well, P-Kitty, my dog could hardly be called low-energy, but I can barely get her to go out in this bitter cold long enough to pee. She gets out the back door, then turns around to look at me with a mixture of tragedy and hostility in her eyes.

This morning she ran around the back yard like a maniac for about 3 minutes, did her business, then came back inside to lay in front of the register. She puts her face right up against it so her ears flutter in the hot wind. That was 5 hours ago, and she's still there, sound asleep. You would think her fur would have caught fire by now.

Glad you liked my list, Bovine. I feel for everyone who has lost games due to snow and ice, and yet again have no game myself this week (though not due to ice). Hopefully, things will improve for my players soon.

I'm in Hand of Evil's boat, myself. South Carolina (and most of the southeastern states) have this weird propensity to be paralyzed when the temperature drops below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. This morning, I had to kick an ice-tail off of my wife's car that dragged the ground behind it - the remains of the snow that melted!

Schools are closed, roads are icy, and I'm at work.

Speaking of work...

Well, its not snowing here, but boy is it cold. Look at this weather.
