Our first D&D game of the new year

(...looking at the Intuitive Archer...head explodes, a la, well, you know...)

And I was worried about letting a player take Deepwood Sniper and Divine Archer (as Arcane Archer mainly, but with bad fort and requiring Divine rather than Arcane spells.) :)

Oh, it's actually not that bad (disclaimer: but I would say that, natch). It looks OTT but that's more because archers tend to be OTT in the first place. An equivalent-level deepwood sniper or order of the bow initiate could easily surpass my guy in terms of damage-dealing potential, especially with Rapid Shot and a speed bow.

Re: Re: DM out-twinks PCs, film at 11

I was looking at the anti-Hong after the fight, and noticed that I COMPLETELY FORGOT about his Deflect Arrows and Return Shot feats.

Now that's just evil.

The first game of the new year was also the first game of my new Godlike campaign.

We spent the entire session doing character backstory. First guy's Talent awoke in Dieppe, where he shot and killed an Übermensch. Five eights... Whew. He became a telekinetic.

The next guy stepped on a mine in the Salomon Islands, and immediately manifested Heavy Armour, Hyperbody and Regeneration.

The third chap was a Brit fighting against Rommel in North Africa. He's got Hyperbody, Super Speed, and Fade... All tied to his Alternate Form: Wolf.

Fourecks looks at hong's twink PrC. He blinks. He blinks again. He then decides not to comment lest he banned... again :D

It looks like I'm going to actually get to play next week which will be interesting for a few reasons. Firstly, I rarely get to play so I'm uber-eager for it and the DM seems like he knows his stuff so it should be a good game. Secondly, there are eight, count 'em, eight current players and if I and the others from our 'meet'n'greet' yesterday turn up, then there'll be 11 players. I've never been in a session with more than six people in it, including the DM.

I seriously can't wait though. Even though I have to roll the character up at the game, I'm going to take a few pre-made ones just so I can get into the game quicker by applying whatever stats I get to a suitable PC. I'm hoping I get enough to play my 9th-level monk character, Graz Hober. He looks like Dolph Lundgren and speaks with a Russian accent. Try saying Graz Hober in a Russian accent fairly quickly and see if you get the joke :)

What's more, it looks like I'll be in ANOTHER game the following week. I tell yah, 2003 is MY year :D

First game of the year killed no-one, but the second nearly killed half the party. In the end, only two were killed.

But it was an epic fight in the Crater Ridge Mines fire temple, with people falling into fiery pits, fireballs exploding everywhere, and PCs running around in little huddles screaming "MEDIC!"

I love hearing about other peoples' games. Most interesting.

Our first game was a disaster. :)

We were tasked to seek out an area outside of the city where the orc army (led by their half-orc leader) had stationed a nexus for magic energy that was one of three that had been used to rain down a magic bolt that completely destroyed an entire building.

Wandering through the field (using an invisibility sphere) we passed through another invisibility sphere, which revealed a huge orc camp, with over 100 orcs, and a giant in it. Casting fly on the rogue, he was able to look through the tents and find the source of the magic nexus. Meanwhile, the leader of the Orc camp is here, along with his 12 bodyguards. We overhear a conversation between the wizards running the nexus, and the leader that there is some kind of disagreement. The wizards are mercenaries, and evil, and the leader doesn't want to allow them to use the magic in the nexus at will. So, the cleric in our party thinks he can start up some kind of fight between the leader and the wizards by posing as one of them (he's the same race as the wizards - Egyptian, basically). His plan backfires, as the leader sees our cleric, and then confronts the entire party, as he (so we found out) was able to see invisible creatures, through his magic helmet.

Amazingly enough, he let us all go, after extracting some information from us, but our mission was a failure. My friend (playing the cleric) and I commented later that, by rights, the entire party should have died (at least those who would have been unable to escape), but the DM must have been in a good mood.

Had a lot of fun with the first game of the new year. Doing RttToEE. Lost three characters getting into the CRM. Two of which I captured and force to fight to the death in an arena.

Fun, fun, fun.

My first game of the was Aliens. We were the second squad sent in to check on the original from the movie. Amazingly- most of us survived.

My first D20 of the year was the group I GM. They are stranded in an unknown layer of the Abyss trying to find a way out. At level 6 (average), we battled 42 1/2 fiend Orcs, 2 Hellhounds, a 6th level 1/2 Fiend Orc fighter with a keen edged great battle axe and their leader- a 1/2 fiend Orc cleric dressed in demon plate of 8th level.

Only one fell. We'll miss Maddy the Psychic Warrior.

My first d&d game of the year rocked.

I attacked my three players (all 7th level) with a combined force of some lizardmen-like creatures on the ground, and in the air on mobats.

One of the players, after casting all his buffing spells and invisibility, was stunned by the mobats sonic attack.

One of the players was taken out by a bunch of tasty crits.

The last player used a scroll of lightning bolt - and after making the check for it to work (character is a Ftr4/Wiz3) - eagerly picked up the d6s, and prepared to roll damage. I secretly made the SR tests for them, and when the player asked how many dice he should roll (i.e. what level was the scroll, did they make the save), i just said "nah, dont bother". Priceless.

Second game was a shadowrun3 game. damn it was cool. drug dealers and human bombs and s&m parlours, oh my.....
