Hussar
Legend
I went with TOM as well. I know that Psionics has been retooled, and done well, but, I still don't like psi in fantasy. It's my own personal hang up, but, there you go.
While the TrueNamers are crap, the Pact Binders work extremely well for designing entirely personal sorts of magic. Creating new vestiges can ensure that one binder will look radically different from another - something that lacks in traditional wizards where the same spells keep being reused over and over again. The shadowmage is a wonderful template for any sort of focused spellcaster - elementalist, summoner, that sort of thing.
I could easily replace core magic with TOM in a campaign. Well, maybe not easily, but, willingly.
