"The Underdark is a subterranean wonderland, a vast and twisted labyrinth where fear reigns. It is the home of horrific monsters that have never seen the light of day. It is here that the dark elf Gromph Baenre, Archmage of Menzoberranzan, casts a foul spell meant to ignite a magical energy that suffuses the Underdark and tears open portals to the demonic Abyss. What steps through surprises even him, and from that moment on, the insanity that pervades the Underdark escalates and threatens to shake the Forgotten Realms to its foundations. Stop the madness before it consumes you!"

Pauper

That guy, who does that thing.
No new races or spells; there are a couple of tweaked background features that could prove very useful in the campaign, and some campaign-specific bonds to help tie the characters more closely to the adventure.

I've read the first couple of chapters and I am enjoying it so far (aside from a few errors I've noticed, which don't really make a big impact anyway).

The second chapter seems to give all kinds of rules and advice for life and travel in the Underdark, including various kinds of fungi, mushroom and plant life you'd find, which would be useful in homebrew campaigns. I'm finding that instead of a boring, all-dark Underdark, the adventure path makes it come alive and makes it more interesting.

Maybe my mind will change the more I get into the adventure, but so far this is just what I was hoping for. It definitely is D&D on hard mode though. I'd prefer running it with experienced players rather than new players.

Europe got shafted because apparently whoever was in charge of logistics decided to use ship freight rather than air freight. Essentially we have to wait for the boats to arrive on this side of the Atlantic. Way to screw with European FLGSs.
