Guys, I want to take a brief moment to make it clear that it is important to me that each of you gets an equal say in decision points in this game. Hiding, out front as meat shield, lurking in the background, actively parlaying, negotiating, it makes not a whit's difference to me what your character may be doing in the heat of the moment. When a decision needs to be made about what the group wants to do, I will continue to look to each of your for your opinion, and will continue to regard you as equal partners.

Personally, I'd like clarification / ruling in this area, since it does seem a little ... easy. But Brinn is Magic Jackie Chan.
And a ruling you shall have. My idea that a skill check was necessary was merely a holdover thought from 3.x. I still have a hard time rooting out old knowledge; it tends to slip in when I'm not actively thinking things through. Or when I post on the fly at work, as was the case on Friday. I've since then had a look at PHB 182, which provides, "[w]hile climbing, or swimming, each foot of movement costs 1 extra foot (2 extra feet in difficult terrain), unless a creature has a climbing or swimming speed. At the DM's option, climbing a slippery vertical surface or one with few handholds requires a successful Strength (Athletics) check."

I added the bold for emphasis, because it's relevant here. I've been imagining, and indeed expressly stated in the IC, that there are lots of foot- and handholds on the ledge face. So the ruling in this instance really needs to be that no Athletics check shall be required. Brinn (or anyone desiring to climb the ledge) simply needs to expend 30' of movement to scale the wall to attain the ledge. Thanks, all, for the opportunity to refresh and clarify.

My phone notifications are fubar, apparently. I was just checking in to see what was taking everyone so long, and it turns out it was me who was holding up the show. Sorry about that.

This is a thing, I think. I've seen others say for over a year now that occasionally they stop receiving push notifications. It's happened to me, too. I haven't a fix for it, other than to check the site manually. It's sort of fun like that; brings back a bit of mystery. You never know what you'll find when you check in. :)
