Outposts in space...what's out there?

-- Tomb (for something alien really nasty - maybe suspended animation)
-- Dump Station (where dangerous compound are kept because someday it could be used, but right now it's dangerous thing that must put away in deep space)

How about a diplomatic outpost? Something that normally is on the edge (or just outside the edge) of claimed space that various factions can go to meet.
 


-Navigation Buoy ("You Are Here.") [Pbartender]
Hazard Warning Buoy ("You Better Shouldn't Be Here"), possibly multiple ones spreaded around a certain hazardous area (maybe near a black hole, near a star nearing his supernova state, or a ancient mine field)

Bank or Black Market Depot (Where you can go to hide valuable goods - be it of sentimal or money value, and be it legal or illegal. Also a nice place to hide hard-copies of sensitive - possibly blackmail or "insurance" - data)

Massive Date Storage Facility (Remote place, possibly outside of governmental control. Probably coupled with a High Performance Comm Relay)
 

Cache - secret or secure storage [fuel, ammo, weapons, droid army...]

terraforming facility - small higly automated

ruin/abandoned = empty decayed versions of all above

construction camp/underconstruction = one of above sites being built

I'm going to find a way to use this in my Traveller game...somehow...some way... :D

Third, another idea: Museum/Archive - picture the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Arc...now imagine it inside a hollowed-out asteroid...

This might be subsumed under miners or fuel depots, but in my Traveller games there are "gas miners" that operate in and around gas giants, scooping fuel, distilling trace elements, and transporting the load to starports in systems that lack gas giants and don't care to sacrifice their oceans for starship fuel.
 

Shipyard, private: Less than ten slips of moderate size.
Shipyard, corperate: ~50 slips of large size or a single assembly line producing shuttles or fighters.
Shipyard, Nationalized: Over a hundred slips, all sizes of vessels.
Star Mall: A large base with over 20 services under one roof. Sells everthing from spacesuits and spare parts to jewelry and evening gowns.
Restraunt at the End of the Universe: Looks like a starfish stuck to an asteroid. Great floor show. Food that wants to be eaten. 5/5 stars -The Galactic guide to Eateries for Carbon based life.
 

I have recompiled and expanded the list found on this thread and converted it to PDF for easier access for when you are at your gaming table, or setting up your game.

If anyone has any other suggestions to what can be added please post them below and I'll try and keep the list updated!
