I understand scouring for some info that any mention of the Voice in the Darkness has just been by Keith Baker here on the forums.  I can't find anything in any books or in the Dragon article (Eternal Evil).  Is there a name to go along with the title 'Voice in the Darkness'?  And are there any named prakhutu?

If those two details aren't determined yet, I can make something up.  I just thought I'd ask since this Overlord has been mentioned a few times.  Maybe there's a thread with info on her?  Can't find it with a search.

Sorry for double posting.  Just wanted to focus my question.

I'm thinking of using the Voice in the Darkness in my campaign, and I'd love any info on him/her.

According to Lord_Gore's post in the "Overlords" thread (here) the Truth in the Darkness' name is Tul Oreshka, and information on him is found in Dragon Magazine, Issue #337. Or some such.

It wasn't the Truth in the Darkness I was looking into.  I've seen a few threads where Hellcow mentioned "Voice in the Darkness", and said she was an overlord of insanity.  I remember in particular a thread about Daelkyr and Overlords and whether they would be in cahootz.  Like I said, all I can find is his reference to "Voice in the Darkness."  No other info than the name and her connection to Xoriat or insanity.  It was in this thread.

Maybe it was a typo and he meant Truth in the Darkness.  I dunno.

EDIT:  I just read on the Tul Oreshka, the Truth in the Darkness, and it seems that that is who Hellcow was referring to in the thread.  She is an Overlord of "Madness and Shadow."  Sorry for not looking deeper initially.  :)

So, did you find useful information, then? Enough to let you plot whatever dire plots you want to....plot?

Yeah.  I downloaded the pdf of dragon 337.

I know for sure that I want the campaign to lead to the daelkyr.  I already have some plot lines laid with Belashyrra.  The Lord of Eyes is probably a worthy end to the campaign, especially if I bumped up his level some, but I kind of wanted to go deeper and have something else be behind the original Xoriat invasion.  My two ideas are to have it be the Truth in the Darkness, who used the daelkyr as pawns, or to have a Lord of Xoriat of some type be behind it who is over the daelkyr.  I've thought about using the new Alabbar from the MM3.  An alignment with Xoriat will occur, weakening the seals and opening a gate for him to enter Eberron.  I'm starting to lean that way instead of with the overlord.

We'll see.

Righto, rock on. There are advantages of doing it either way, but if you want the campaign to be about aberration hunters, nixing the LoD would tighten the focus.

Of course, I guess you could have them stop a LoD plot to control and release some Daelkyr....

The Overlord you should use really depends on who the other villains of your campaign are. If you want to focus solely on the daelkyr, then you should definitely use Tul Oreshka. If you want to add other factions, then tie in another Overlord. Besides, who says you can't have two? Involve two opposing factions of the Lord of Dust and only allow Tul Oreshka loose.

I believe that it's just an alternate title for Tul Oreshka, the Truth in the Darkness (from "Eternal Evil"). While I'm guessing it was an accidental mistake in this case, it's worth noting that most of the Overlords likely have multiple "descriptive names" - Bel Shalor obviously had a different name before becoming the Shadow in the Flame, and the Scar That Abides didn't always. A Dragon Below cult dedicated to an Overlord might use a different name than the one scholars favor. It's sort of like Voldemort being both "You Know Who" and "The Dark Lord".
