Owning multiple copies of RPG books

i've never really had multiple copies of my books, sure i've had the various covers of the phb & dmg during the 2e days, but one copy was always good enough for me, until Crafty Games came onto the scene.

I've got currently 3 copies of Spycraft 2.0
2 of Spycraft 2.0 pocket editon
3 of World on Fire
2 Dark Inheritance
3 of Fantasy Craft

and I've given away at least 2-3 of each of those titles to various players. I really like what that small company is doing in the way of game design if you couldn't tell :) and want to share my love of their system with others.

I never buy duplicates, but it seems like every time I go through storage or clean my room or move house that I end up with three or four more copies of the 3.0 and 3.5 Player's Handbook, that absolutely no one claims to be missing. So I sell them, and a couple months later, I find a few more.

But for some reason, I constantly find myself owning things that I don't recall ever having purchased.

I have a ton of Rolemaster stuff. I bought my own set. I then bought for cheap a collection from a friend who wanted to unload them. He had two versions of many of the old books like Arms Law and Spell Law. I loved the system at the time and associated it with my friend's terrific world and campaign. I also had dreams of running it and sharing out the books among the players. I managed to run a brief (two session) campaign. It now moulders in an attic.

Intentionally, I only have multiple copies of a few products: 3 copies of the 3.5 PHB, and 2 copies of The Nightmare Lands boxed set for Ravenloft, because the first one was a bit worn, and I found a shrinkwrapped copy for cheap.
Then I have some duplicate Ravenloft accesories from buying lots on eBay (MC Appendices, Book of Crypts). Otherwise, international shipping is too expensive to justify that kind of spending.

Must be the Kender in ya ;)

I have 2 copies of 3.5e MM V cuz it is sooooo awesome!

(actually, two came in the box for some reason. Never been able to trade it for anything).

I purchase hard copy / pdfs bundles more frequently since geting an Ipad2.

Wow, let's see.

I have two copies each of the 3.0 core books and an additional Player's Handbook. Other than the originals that were bought at my Friendly Local Game Store, I got the others at garage sales "just in case".

I have four second edition PHBs, two each of the original printing and the later revision. All of them were bought at garage sales. Three DMGs, and only one Monstrous Manual/Monster Compendium.

Two 1e Monster Manuals, one a very bad condition copy of the original printing and the other the orange-covered revision in pretty good condition. Garage sales, once again.

That's pretty much all I have when it comes to duplicates.

I have two each of the 1e PHB and DMG. My original copies are knackered but I keep them for sentimental reasons, especially as the now spineless PHB is a first print. The ones I use are near mint condition copies of similar print runs I picked up for a couple of quid apiece on eBay.

I used to have two copies of the 3.5 PHB but one of them went walkies a couple of years ago.

I have duplicates of several 1e modules. A few of them are collectible prints and a couple are reprints.

One day, I might pick up three or four more 3.5 PHBs for convenience when I run games for newbies, which I often do. Also, two of my 3.5 supplements picked up water damage when I left them with a friend who had an unfortunate leaky roof incident. They're still functional but I wouldn't mind replacing them with unblemished copies. I'm a bit OCD like that.

I own 2 copies of the 3.5E PHB as I wanted an extra copy around the table (we only had 3 for 5 players and 1 DM).

I have 5 copies of the Ptolus Player's Guide but that was because they came with the Ptolus book.

Other than that, I only have 1 copy of any RPG book I own.
